Rant turned vlog turned transcript turned this because I cannot help myself.
Hello and welcome to my vlog because apparently you can no longer post audio on Twitter, so. I'm in my pajamas. I work from home. What do you expect from me?
Anyways, so Scream 7 just came out. I have watched all of the Scream movies. I'm not watching Scream 7. If you missed that whole thing, basically one of the stars [Melissa Barrera] of the latest -- the past two Scream movies -- the actor spoke out for Palestine.
Paramount, who makes the Scream movies, went “okay, we're gonna fire you then.” And then with that, Jenna Ortega, who is also a star in the modern Scream movies, and also I think the director? [It was the director.] One of the big people involved with making it, also pulled out because they were like, without her, there is no movie.
But they carried on and made Scream 7 and released it. And apparently it's really bad because there is no movie because they got -- they lost the two main characters and also I believe the director. So it's been doing terribly. A lot of people are like, my God, this is, it's like the Stab movies within the Scream universe, which are what they're spoofing of like bad horror movies.
(aside) Notice my feet are tastefully out of frame.
Anyways, there's all of this. People were like, great, Scary Movie, the series that spoofs Scream -- which, Scream is a spoof of other slashers -- Scary Movie is going to have an excellent opportunity here. I believe today, I think it's today [It was today (8 hrs ago)], they released a trailer for the latest Scary Movie movie that is coming out in June. And it starts with like, haha, it's a Ghostface spoof. I mean, whatever, the lead in-- whatever.
And I went, oh great, they can talk about how ridiculous everything happening with Scream is and make fun of them. Excellent. I'm excited. I look at the page, Scary Movie is made by Paramount, which Paramount is the reason that Scream is such a mess right now because of their terrible politics.
So they are spoofing -- it's like the Barbie movie, how the Barbie movie is like calling out Mattel and all of the stuff they did, but it's made by Mattel, so they can't say anything. So they just have to like gloss over and be like “there's bad things happening, but it's fine”. So.
Also. There's currently controversy going on because Paramount is trying to do a merger with Warner Bros, which started out, I believe Netflix was doing -- was hoping to do a merger with Warner Bros, and they were like, nevermind. So Paramount went, what if we did that?
But my problem here is, so Warner Bros has HBO Max, they have the DCU, which the DCU has been like one of the few big franchises that has been pro-Palestine. Paramount is very not, it's very anti-Palestine.
So also Paramount, Warner Bros.
Oh, I have beef with Warner Bros from the Rooster Teeth situation. Let me go into that real quick. So Warner Bros acquired Rooster Teeth, which is a like indie studio that makes stuff for YouTube. They did RWBY and Red vs. Blue, et cetera. -- Camp Camp. et cetera, et cetera. They acquired them and then were like, actually, we're gonna shut you down and just closed their studios like, would be two years back now. Exactly, it was March 2024.
So that was a whole thing. And they were like, sorry guys. They have so many shows that we're actively running and so many employees and whatever. And they were like, too bad you're closed now because we don't like you. I don't know.
That's my beef with Warner Bros, my personal beef, because I really liked Rooster Teeth growing up and they were what got me into film. So that's my personal beef. And also Warner Bros owns Harry Potter. So I have beef just... I have a lot of middle school beef with Warner Bros.
So Warner Bros and Paramount, if they merge, one owns CBS, the other owns CNN. So if they merge, they own two very large news stations. What are the big, like, “left-leaning” news stations? It's like CNN, CBS, MSNBC. That's been a whole thing where they might not even be allowed to do this merger because of the like political implications and the monopoly, whatever.
But also, studios have such a long history of just pulling this stuff and getting away with it. Of like, especially recently with, oh my god, the past 10 years with studios. It used to be the studio structure, they actually enforced this legally to separate them where they were like, okay, this one -- you guys have to be in charge of production. You have to be in charge of distribution. You have to be in charge of whatever.
That's no longer a thing because of stuff like Netflix where they were like, we're a distributor. That's limiting our business. We're also going to produce the things and all of that. And then all of the other production companies went, we need a streaming service, so now we're also distributors. And all of the distributors went, we have a streaming service because we're a distributor, but we also want original content, so we're going to whatever.
I don't know if what I'm saying is fully true. Question everything, kids. Never believe me.
Maybe I'll edit this, maybe I won't. You have to bear with my thought process.
When Twitter used to have the record feature, you could pause it because it's a recorder. And recorders, you can pause them and then click it and keep going. I'm struggling with this. Oh, there's a pause button on the camera.
I don't know if I even had anything else to say, but anyways, there might be a merger. Also, I hate the state of Paramount. I have long running beef with Warner Bros. They might be merging. However, Warner Bros, I appreciate the content that they're allowing to be produced.
Anyways, I love you.
